How to keep a food diary

Keeping an accurate food and drink intake diary!

Make sure you have kept an "honest" record of all your intakes. A small pocket size spiral notebook is easiest to use. Your intake diary should include also any little, however little, snacks. It includes all and any drinks. You can estimate how much you ate by measuring in your head approximate tablespoons or cups.

Don't wear yourself out by counting calories. Remember a cup is not the same size as a large coffee cup, but a lot smaller. Look in your kitchen to get a feel for the size of a "cup". Many overweight people have distored views of what is normal portion size so keep this in mind and try to be honest with yourself.

You should keep the diary for at least 5-7 days to get a good accurate idea of how much you really ingest. During this time you should not change anything, just eat as you have over the last few years or time period which lead up to your current body habitus........your shapely size. If you are happy with your current shape and size then get off this blog now, 'cause otherwise you may end up slim. If you stay with this blog you may get great results with some patience.

After you have constructed your diary you need to read it through carefully. Is your intake greater than you thought it would be?
